is cable connected correctly?\r\n\r\nare you using one crossover cable or two straight cables to a hub?\r\n\r\nif you have a hub, and somehow you have another machine, or can borrow another machine from someone, i would suggest you plug another machine into the hub, and set it to 192.168.1.3/ffffff00, and see if you can ping it from win box or solaris box.\r\n\r\nright now, you have only two boxes, so it\'s hard to say which one is not set up correctly. by introducing another box, you can narrow down the problem. if you set up another box (win box will probably be easier in your case), and it can ping 192.168.1.1, then it means something not right with solaris box. if it cannot ping, then it\'s definitely problem with hub/cable.\r\nsome hub have uplink port, or have a switch. make sure you check it out. it sounds to me like a physcial layer issue. |
