Help! I used insmod command in RH9,but mismatch,WHY?

I want to run a module program hello.c and
complie it by gcc.
#gcc  -c -o hello.o hello.c
I used insmod command by root in RH9:
#insmod -f hello.o
but the system show:
Warning: kernel-module version mismatch
        hello.o was compiled for kernel version 2.4.20
        while this kernel is version 2.4.20-8
Question:
how to recompile insmod module to version 2.4.20-8?
