IT Jobs vs CPA jobs

Ex-IT Director

I am new to this forum.  I joined this forum when I try to find CISA exam info.\r\n\r\nI had worked in the IT field in Hong Kong for 16+ years - from programmer, AP, SA, PM to IT-Director.  But owing to the outsourcing of IT jobs to China and IT bomb in year 2000, I could not find any IT jobs in HK.\r\n\r\nI was forced to switch to accounting/audit job.  I have just completed the CPA exam in HK, with a hope to get a pass when I get the result in \r\nAugust. \r\n\r\nThis forum is very good for the IT people and/or audit people to discuss related subjects.  IT jobs have good prospect in China, but very bad in HK.  For IT audit jobs, I am afraid that similar outsourcing events will happen soon.  What do you think?

\r\n\r\nafter you switch job, you still work in a same company?\r\neven your answer is yes, you do not worry about  it any more.\r\nexternal audit can not replace internal audit ,ex-audit\'s target is  find weakness, then  Internal audit will follow-up ex-audit suggestion, implement reasonable risk in this company.

\r\n\r\nMaybe some companies do that way, but it should not be considered as best practice. It\'s better to have internal control (CSA) to find problems first; then those be confirmed, and maybe some left found, by internal audit; finally fewer for external audit and get their attestation. But, it\'s important to get EA\'s agreement to get CSA efficient. Your order is probably a wish from the Big4 .

\r\n\r\nHas there been solid outsource of IT to China? I thought it usually went to India for IT outsource.  I think, or I wish, IT audit won\'t really be outsourced. There is reputation involved in audit. That\'s why Big4 is so popular. There are tons of small accounting firms you can get excellent services for cheap pricing, but big companies rarely go to them, at least for SOX attestation.
