Senior Director, Software Development--1人:北京
Job Summary
The Senior Director of Software Development responsible formanaging and leading software development for the ecurity Gateway productlines to meet corporate requirements for functionality, quality, schedule andcost. This includes establishing operational objectives and assignments anddelegating assignments to subordinate personnel. The director prepares budgets, determinesstaffing requirements and assigns resources to all projects for all productlines.
Essential Functions
· Leads and grows an existingorganization of Development Managers, Technical Experts, Analysts, Designers,and Developers. May manage other Directors as well. Manages within both internal and external(individual contractors and 3rd parties) staffing models.
· Manages and facilitates multipledevelopment teams local and (possibly) remote, to ensure software developmentefforts meet corporate quality objectives and launch targets.
· Identifies both strategicopportunities and potential threats associated with emerging technologies andexecutes software development plans that ensure Websense products remainbest-of-breed.
· Champions software developmentbest practices within the organization including but not limited to thefollowing areas: design, architecture, code re-use, performance, and quality.
. Continuously appraiseseffectiveness of software development organization through objective metricsand charts course for improvement.. Prioritizes, directs and appraisesthe activities of development managers or project leads and developers.
. Determines, justifies and obtainsapproval for project resources, personnel, and budget necessary for projectsthat meet corporate requirements.. Coordinates with productmanagement, as well as test, documentation and product support management toensure that the needs of all projects in the product line are met.
. Collaborates with engineeringleadership in other geographical locations on product development projects.. Assists product management byproviding technical insight and judgment of feature/schedule/cost tradeoffs.
. Ensures that product architectureand technology decisions support corporate strategies and future direction ofthe products.. Prioritizes and manages resourceallocation for the products based on changing business priorities, directionand budget.. Manages morale of developmentorganization; approves employee performance evaluations and development plans;and ensures consistency in all compensation actions for organization.. Ensures quality hiring practicesin product areas.
. Interacts with executivemanagement on development issues.
. Attends, speaks and/orparticipates at appropriate conferences.
. Partners with corporate businessleadership to analyze, consult, drive, develop and oversee the delivery of newbusiness applications and features, technology partnerships, and informationprojects which support key business objectives and strategies.
. Performs other duties and projects asassigned.
Education and Experience
. Bachelors in ComputerScience/Engineering or equivalent experience (Masters preferred)
. 12+ years experience in thesoftware industry, 5+ years managing technical teams.
. Excellent knowledge of C/C++ andJava development in a cross platform environment.
. Experience with client/server andnetwork computing including networking technologies such as TCP/IP, socketsprogramming, network protocols such as streaming, IM, peer to peer, etc.
. Good understanding of technologiesrelevant to all product lines.
. Strong communication skills withexcellent English.
. An assertive and self-motivatedleader with absolute integrity to drive the expected results.
. Overseas returnee will be a plus. |
