Come lead the way in developing Linux, UNIX, and Open Source Software (OSS) capabilities for Windows Server and Windows Azure, Microsoft’s public cloud offering. While Windows Server plays a huge role with enterprise and hoster customers, they also use Linux, UNIX, and OSS. They want one Cloud OS, and one management system, that can handle all these operating systems and software environments.
As the Shanghai Open Source Technology Center (OSTC) at Microsoft, we develop the features and functions that ensure Windows Azure can run and manage Linux and UNIX VMs as adeptly and efficiently as Microsoft operating systems. We also support Open source framework on the Windows Azure platform to ensure that developers can use familiar application & tools while taking advantage of the benefits that the Windows Azure platform provides. If you’ve wanted to use your Linux/UNIX/OSS product development skills in a Microsoft context, this is your opportunity!
We are looking for a Senior Program Manager to take charge of one or more areas of the development and support of Microsoft’s Linux in Windows Azure strategy. You will plan the direction we should take, and then lead the implementation of that plan. You will work directly with customers, with the open source community, and with product management to understand the market space and customer needs. Based on that knowledge, you will determine the solution stack needed to offer a complete set of Linux and UNIX solutions in Windows Azure. This encompasses determining which Linux/UNIX distros and middleware solutions are needed for our customers and ensuring they become offerings in the Windows Azure Gallery.
This position requires strong technical skills and experience in developing and shipping enterprise software and services. You should have a passion for customers, excellent oral and written communications skills, and strong project management and people skills. You must have previous experience working with Linux/UNIX or OSS and have experience deploying Linux middleware solutions. Familiarity with enterprise systems management and public cloud environments such as Azure or AWS is required. This position is located in Shanghai, China. Experience working with Chinese enterprises and hosters is a plus.
