Job summary

The Red Hat Global Support Services team is seeking a highly skilled Technical Support Engineer to provide dedicated phone and online support for our clients. In this role, you'll become an expert on Red Hat technologies, including Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and our storage and cloud solutions. The customers you'll interact with are often other engineers, so developing your technical skills is imperative. One of your first tasks in this position will be to become a Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) and get up to speed with our storage and cloud products. This position is a great opportunity to make an impact on an award-winning support team.
Primary job responsibilities

    Provide technical support to customers by taking incoming calls and responding to web-based inquiries
    Investigate, troubleshoot, and develop solutions for customer issues
    Exceed customer expectations by providing outstanding service
    Develop relationships with in-house engineers and developers to reach creative solutions and improve customer satisfaction
    Contribute to the global Red Hat knowledge management system by sharing diagnostic steps and problem resolutions with the team
    Serve as mentor to help junior team members prioritize workloads
    Be on-call and perform night or weekend shifts on a rotational schedule

Required skills

    3+ years of system administration or technical support experience working on Linux or UNIX, with excellent troubleshooting skills
    Advanced English communication, both written and verbal
    Proficiency with Linux and UNIX systems
    Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) or a comparable combination of experience and qualifications
    Demonstrated understanding of operating system internals, installation, configuration, scripting (Bash or Perl), networking, security and firewalls, web server, and kernels
    Understanding of programming languages like C, Python, Java, etc., as well as system programming experience
    Experience with enterprise storage solutions like SAN, NAS, clustering, or virtualization
    Ability to communicate clearly and concisely to all clients with various levels of technical experience
    Bachelor's degree or equivalent in computer science or another technical field
    Communication skills in Korean, Japanese, or Cantonese, both written and verbal, are a plus
    Red Hat Certified Architect (RHCA) is a plus
