为啥小型机要比x86结构的PC机贵？

在论坛上经常有人拿数据库的存取速度来说sun的机器怎么没有windows的机器快，而且主频还那么低，和intel比简直就不是一个档次，不明白sun还要把的机器卖那么贵，恰好今天看了一篇文档，希望能释疑解惑：
这篇文档是讲sun已经过气了的一台大机，这些性能指标很能说明sun的机器价格是PC机的几十倍、几百倍
1.Internal bus clock speeds of 83.3 or 100 MHz with UltraSPARC™
V9 processors running at a clock frequency of 250, 333, or 400
MHz.
2.Significant input/output (I/O) flexibility – Support for up to 32
independent SBuses and 64 SBus slots, or 32 independent PCI
(peripheral component interconnect) slots, or any mixture totaling
32 buses. Each system board supports a pair of the same type bus.
3.System domains – Groups of system boards can be arranged in up to 16 multiprocessor domains that can run independent copies of Solaris Operating Environment concurrently. Each domain is
completely isolated from hardware or software errors that may
occur in another domain.
4.Scalable configurations – The E10000 can dynamically add
processors, memory, and I/O slots while the system is running.
5.Inter-domain networks (IDN) – Transfer of data between E10000 domains at centerplane speeds.
6.Service and maintenance process flexibility – The SSP connects to
the E10000 system via standard Ethernet, permitting system
administration from a remote location.
7.More flexibility, reliability, availability, and serviceability (RAS)
than other comparable systems.
