You have acquired an "always on" ADSL access for your home. You ISP has provided you with a single permanent public IP address.
You have a laptop that is configured to work from home and you also have several other machines to which you connect regularly when at home (because they have network shares, printers, etc.)
You want your home network to be secure, but you also want to be able to work remotely with your laptop "as though you were at home".
Work in groups of 2, and design and configure the necessary systems to implement a network that meets the requirements above.
The system will be tested in the Msc lab using VMWARE running Linux Red Hat 9 virtual machine.
Note that VMWARE on the lab machines ahs been configured with 2 virtual network segment:
192.101.79.0 subnet 255.255.255.0
10.2.1.0 subnet 255.255.255.0
An image of RH9 is available on C: drive (C:\RH9)
You will submit a report of maximum 6 pages describing and giving a critical assessment of your design. Your report must also describe clear hardware requirement. Necessary configuration files will be submitted as an appendix. |
