You need java 1.2 or java 1.3 to run oracle.

So you need to get it from HP, http://www.hp.com/go/java

Before that you need java patches
http://www.hp.com/products1/unix/java/infolibrary/patches.html

Install them all. Go to itrc.hp.com click patches, build a huge patch depot, download it as patches.zip

Download it to a directory by itself.

unzip patches.zip

create_patch_depot(whatever it is) -d /loc_of_patch_depot

Install as follows

swinstall -x autoreboot=true -x reinstall=false -s /loc_of_patch_depot \*

These optiosn prevent problems that can occur from double installing certain patches.

A swverify \* wouldn't hurt prior to oracle install.

So what you thought installing Oracle would be easy?
