Primary Job Responsibilities
The NT/Windows Systems Administrator will actively design, build, monitor and maintain systems in 24 X 7 Highly available production env.
The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and articulate, intimately familiar with Microsoft operating systems, Win NT, 2K and 2K3, and software technologies, and have a proven history of creating tools and automating routine administration tasks.
Designing, administering, monitoring and troubleshooting of systems for supporting development activities, architectural proofs-of-concept (POCs) and pilots for new site designs.
Writing scripts for monitoring NT systems and critical applications, and integrating into a centralized event console.
Create and manage process for allocating computing resources to developers and architects for POCs and pilots.
Troubleshooting issues related to production systems, triaging as necessary for production and QA environments. Internal customers include Site operations, PD and application architects.
Planning, communicating and executing system change requests from internal customers.
Full-time position with on-call duties.
Job Requirements
Bachelors in an engineering discipline, or Technical certification in Win NT or Win 2K/2K3.
5+ years work experience as a senior NT Administrator or Architect.
Expert understanding of and experience with Microsoft operating systems, Internet Information Server, Active Directory & Domain architecture, HTTP protocol, SSL, DNS, WINS, OS security, CGI/ISAPI, and static/dynamic content.
Experience supporting J2EE/Java/JVM environments a plus.
Must have experience implementing and maintaining NT monitoring in 100+ machine environments, with server-class hardware & peripherals.
Must have strong scripting skills - PERL, batch, shell, VB.
Experience writing Make files and PERL build scripts, and using Ant for doing distributed builds a strong plus.
Should have a general understanding of networking - routing, subnets, UDP, TCP, IP, & Vans.
Must have strong communication skills both in mandarin and English and ability to work individually, within a team, and with other groups.
Must have ability to communicate complex technical problems concisely and professionally to technical and non-technical audiences.
Experience using Tivoli monitoring and software distribution a plus.
Must be familiar with different storage layouts and tradeoffs made with each. SAN experience a plus.
Experience with backup software and recovery strategies a plus.
Linux/Solaris administration experiences a strong plus.
