请教：为什么我配的sendmail占用特别多的CPU资源？

我在一台linux redhat 9.0 机子上（CPU 3.0GHz ,1G memory) 配置的sendmail＋openwebmail，有内外两块网卡，收发邮件都正常，就是发现运行一段时间后，sendmail就把CPU 占用到百分之八九十了，这种情况下，连telnet上去敲命令反应都很慢，请教各位，是什么原因呢？
注：同时内存也接近占到1G，不过我看资料说好像linux下的内存管理是把整个内存都当作缓存是吧，也许算正常？CPU占用数过一段时间会有所下降，不过很快就又占用到百分之八九十了。sendmail进程数并不多，如下：

请问我遇到的这种现象是正常现象吗，不正常的话，如何避免呢？
