Job Title Sr. Systems Administrator - Telecommunications Technology Centre
Job Function Administration
Location CHN - Beijing
Job Description - Join as a member of the telco development team on the Telecommunications Technology Centre.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
You will be part of the CHINA R&D Center team. The Center is responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining software products with advanced technologies and a broad customer base. The System Lab is an important part of the Center, which hosts all the systems and provides services for the engineering teams. Your responsibilities will consist of, but are not limited to:
Plan and carry out procurement of systems according to engineering requirements with minimum costs
Install, test and upgrade operating systems and other software
Maintain the systems proactively to ensure 24 by 7 operations
Tune the systems to achieve best performance
Install security packages and apply upgrades if necessary to maintain the highest stability, security and integrity of the systems.
Deliver prompt and quality services to the engineering teams
Closely work with engineers to better understand service requests and urgency
Manage the lab systems independantly, but also work closely with the engineering and other teams on site and other company locations worldwide
Execute lab backup and recovery plan
Cooperate with colleagues in other sites for disaster recovery, etc.
Lead interns in lab administration
Qualifications/Necessary Skills Must have more than 5 years hands-on experience in UNIX system administration environment.
Must be an expert adminstrator in at least two of the following operating systems: Solaris, AIX, HP-UX, Tru64, Linux, and Windows. Strong UNIX background is required.
Have an excellent working knowledge of TCP/IP networking
Solid understanding of IPC and kernel tuning is definitely a plus
Experience with NetApp filer or other NFS server is desirable
Experience with Veritas tape backup is desirable
Excellent team player
Fluent in verbal and written English
Education BS in Computer Science or related field of education |
