关于4T磁盘阵列的格式化

新购置了14 X 300G的SCSI磁盘阵列，做RAID5，在Win2k3下能正常格式化，认出3600多G。

CPU为双XEON 3.6G EM64，SCSI卡为LSI Logic1020/1030。服务器上另有2块146G的SCSI盘安装系统，该磁盘阵列只是用于存储数据。可是在FreeBSD 6.0 AMD64 CD1下安装只能认出不到2T，使用的是UFS2，提示让我修改geometry，说现有的472723 cycl / 255 heads / 63 sectors=7610359995 sectors (3715996MB)不正确。具体提示如下：

其中提示“For SCSI, it's the translation mode your controller is using.”作何理解？


WARNING:  A geometry of 473723/255/63 for da2 is incorrect.  Using
a more likely geometry.  If this geometry is incorrect or you
are unsure as to whether or not it's correct, please consult
the Hardware Guide in the Documentation submenu or use the   
(G)eometry command to change it now.

Remember: you need to enter whatever your BIOS thinks the
geometry is!  For IDE, it's what you were told in the BIOS
setup. For SCSI, it's the translation mode your controller is
using.  Do NOT use a ``physical geometry''.

cent OS 4.2 X86_64? 这是什么操作系统？

LZ这种问题一般来说是母板造成的。
你可以尝试修改一下磁盘参数

正是不知如何修改磁盘参数才在此提问。
启动之后查看/var/log/messages，可以看到 /dev/da2是3790G的容量，是正确的，可是格式化出来的只有1531G，与实际相差太多。

cent os是一个利用redhat企业版的公布的原码再次编译得到的免费的redhat企业版操作系统

呵呵，我也是从19989年开始接触Redhat 6.0而学习Unix的，看来真的跟不上形势了。谁能帮我先解决BSD下的格式化问题啊！Cent X86_64正在下载中。
