SCO 5.0.7 with Oracle
NFS export u& u1
Scheduled shutdown Oracle at 0159 hours.

Server-B
SCO 6
Local Filesystem u & u1 (35GB each)
NFS import from Server-A u & u1 and MOUNT as local ru & ru1
schedule run "cd /ru; find * | cpio -oc > /u/BkpU ; cd /ru1;find * | cpio -oc > /u1/BkpU1


However, the cpio ran successfully to output the file BkpU (size 12GB) & BkpU1 (size 16GB).

The problem I'm facing is, when I try "cd /u; /u95/bin/cpio -idmv < BkpU" or cpio view the file, it said "BkpU: cannot Open".

Which mean,  SCO 6 no problem to generate single file size more than 2GB, but the file can be read/write/reuse still a BIG BIG question. (氣死人啦 !!!)

I've tried similar command on normal cpio output the BkpU will failed when file size reach 2GB, BUT THEN, still manage to view/restore this failed 2GB BkpU.


Who said SCO Unix 6 really solved the single file size > 2GB??? :em12:

Default SCO 6 fsadm is largefiles.
Ok, i run fsadm / , fsadm /u & fsadm /u1, all showing largefiles.

Default SCO 6 SFSZLIM & HFSZLIM = 0x7FFFFFFF also.

Which I double confirm to check on /etc/conf/cf.d/mtune file.

About the ulimit, I run ulimit unlimited, and ulimit, answer given still 4194303 (Same with SCO 5.0.7)

Yet, I've checked with SCO Support team, they said "Only those commands under /u95/bin capable go beyond 2GB".

On my Lab, its capable to output file size 16GB via /u95/bin/cpio. But then, the very big question is, the output file can't be read/used.

# ./idbuild -B
# reboot    or  # init 6

  In SCO 6 environment, there is not necessary apply such because by default VXFS file system, it ready exceed 2GB single file system.

Some how, I try n try, use this ---> find * | cpio -ocv -O /u/BkpU , (Note: No need specify /u95/bin/cpio, it use normal cpio), I manage to execute the backup & restore via NFS.
The time reduce almost 2/3 if compare with backup to tape. Same goes to restore.




My Oracle 7.3.4 works perfect with Unix 6. But the only problem is the SQL Report Writer having some Unix 6, the term (ansi) seem having very bad conflict with Unix 6.
(it doesn't work with the Function Key, and once exit, the screen/tty will hang)

Looks like Unix 6 still need to come out Maintain Pack 3.

Good thing is the KDE3 with some system checking utilities like RTPM pretty good in Unix 6, and the crash test is better than SCO Unix 5.0.7.

Same Oracle & SQL Report Writer works 101% perfect with SCO 5.0.5/5.0.6/5.0.7.
