how to resize the redo log file in archive log mode?

I append two group behind old three groups.

alter system switch logfile;

alter system switch logfile; ///hangs.........

^C

select * from v$log;

group 1,2,3 is in INACTIVE, group 4 is ACTIVE, group5 is CURRENT...

alter database drop logfile group 1;

Error is:

ORA-16038: LOG 1 seqence# 4 cannot be archived
ORA-00312:
ORA-00312:

alter database clear unarchived logfile group 1;

make sure log_archive_start is true and one of the log_archive_dest is set to a valid dir and it's not full

If the database is is Archivelog mode, when I use "select * from v$log;" all the group should be YES in ARC except CURRECT group, but I found all group's ARC is no and all other group is ACTIVE.
