【疑惑】mysql在商业上到底怎么用？需要付费么？别人告怎么办？

想不通，为什么非得用mysql，做服务器跑linux上用postgre就拉倒了，好像oracle单机版的价格跟mysql一年的服务费差不多吧。

我运行一个盈利的网站，后台使用一个我没有改动过的MySQL数据库，如果我不想把我的网站程序全部开源，那么就必须买MySQL的许可证？如果真是这样的话，我可就真得考虑更换后台数据库了。

Using MySQL on a server as a backend to a shopping cart application is an example of properly using MySQL under the terms of the GPL. Under the terms of GPL MySQL can be used in any number of instances in almost any way. The shopping cart or any other software you are using would become a separate licensing entity. You are free to choose any licensing model for your appplication, including proprietary, at no charge.

The MySQL license is designed to protect MySQL. Data that is stored within the MySQL database does not need to be released under the GPL. What is covered by the GPL is the MySQL code, not application.

当然这中间有点灰色空间，
1. 理论上，你只要不分发MySQL软件（in any way）就可以。
2. 但是这个和第三点和在一起很容易让人混扰。第三点的意思，你可以帮人装（copy）mysql，但是你装的MySQL就是属于GPL的。理论上这点可以和卖软件分开成为两个独立的公司去做。
3. 灰色空间在于，很多时候，客户会要求ISV替他们安装MySQL。
