Database Specialist
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work with development team to develop database architectures, coding
standards, and quality assurance procedures.
- Work with architect and application developers, perform database
performance tuning on an on-going basis to ensure the smooth functioning of
all applications, respond to and resolve database access and performance
issues.
- Ensure stability and reliability of data access and data quality across
the organization via ongoing database support and maintenance.
- Assist with installation and configuration to ensure database access,
consistency, and integrity.
- Review data models, developed or modified as part of application
development projects to ensure compliance.
- Provide leadership, communication, and education to others regarding data
architecture, models and related activities.
- Anticipate and solve problems quickly with solid problem solving and
communication skills.
- Work effectively as part of a team and possess the self-motivation and
discipline.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years experience in database administration in medium to large-scale
production environment on designing, building, installing, configuring and
supporting database servers.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience of tuning large web database and capacity
planning experience in Linux/Unix, Apache, MySQL and PHP environment,
fluency with performance and availability metrics and tools.
- Working knowledge of data modeling tools. Produce, maintain and interpret
entity relationship diagrams.
- Programming experience with DB APIs, PHP/MySQL development and XML/XSLT.
- Formal education in Computing Sciences/Computing Technologies or related
experience/education.
