Solaris

When Sun Microsystems needed a name for a new workstation, they contracted with Libretto to generate a series of candidates. Libretto brainstormed a number of ideas, focusing on names that would help extend and enhance the equity of Sun Microsystems’ master brand.

The client gravitated quickly to the name “Solaris,” the Latin word for “sun.” Due to a shift in the client’s product marketing strategy, Sun eventually decided to market the new workstation as the 386i. However, the company later adopted the Solaris name for its version of the UNIX operating system. Almost 15 years later, Solaris remains one of the most widely recognized brands in the technology industry.

老大，还是没说为何叫solaris....

比如我们知道SUN之所以叫SUN，是用了斯坦福大学网络的英文首字母缩写。。。solaris...?又是如何来的呢？

老风，我问的是solaris为何叫solaris，而不是叫solalas,eogosun....之类的，就是说sun为什么会采用solaris这个名字来称呼他们的操作系统呢?

我猜是因为和SunOS谐音,

还有可能 solaris 取自 solar,与太阳有关，

SUN公司这个名字英文里也是太阳的意思

那么is加上去是啥意思呢？ E文加上is后是什么意思？

偶土凸的想 solar is....is solar....
