Encapsulate one or more disks
Menu: VolumeManager/Disk/Encapsulate
Use this operation to convert one or more disks to use the Volume Manager.
This adds the disks to a disk group and replaces existing partitions
with volumes.  Disk encapsulation requires a reboot for the changes
  to take effect.

More than one disk or pattern may be entered at the prompt.  Here are
  some disk selection examples:

to encap a hd, the hd must have 2 free slice for public & private regions as well as some free space that do not belong to any slice, normally i leave 512mb free space.

The Volume Manager appears to be installed already.  You should
use vxdiskadm to add more disks to the system.  Installation with
vxinstall will attempt to reinstall the Volume Manager from the
beginning.  Depending upon how your system is currently configured,
a reinstallation may fail and could leave your system unusable.

Are you sure you want to reinstall [y,n,q,?] (default: n) y

Are you absolutely sure [y,n,q,?] (default: n) y
Please consult VxVM Release Notes to determine if a license key is necessary
for your system.  If it is, please use the information below to request a
key.  Installation will not be successful if a license key is required and
  not present.
VxVM uses license keys to control access.  If you have a SPARCstorage
Array (SSA) controller or a Sun Enterprise Network Array (SENA) controller
attached to your system, then VxVM will grant you a limited use license
automatically.  The SSA and/or SENA license grants you unrestricted use
of disks attached to an SSA or SENA controller, but disallows striping,
RAID-5, and DMP on non-SSA and non-SENA disks.  If you are not running an
SSA or SENA controller, then you must obtain a license key to operate.

  Licensing information:
    System host ID: 347c8279
    Host type: i86pc
SPARCstorage Array or Sun Enterprise Network Array: No arrays found

Some licenses are already installed.  Do you wish to review them

Do you want to use enclosure based names for all disks ?

mount: /dev/vx/rdmp 已安装或 dmpfs 正忙

VxVM vxesd ERROR V-5-1-8405 Duplicate daemon check failed

Do you want to setup a system wide default disk group?
[y,n,q,?] (default: y)

Which disk group [<group>,list,q,?] list

NAME         STATE           ID

Which disk group [<group>,list,q,?] rootdg

  The installation is successfully completed.

Menu: VolumeManager/Disk

1      Add or initialize one or more disks
2      Encapsulate one or more disks
3      Remove a disk
4      Remove a disk for replacement
5      Replace a failed or removed disk
6      Mirror volumes on a disk
7      Move volumes from a disk
8      Enable access to (import) a disk group

Encapsulate one or more disks
Menu: VolumeManager/Disk/Encapsulate
Use this operation to convert one or more disks to use the Volume Manager.
This adds the disks to a disk group and replaces existing partitions
with volumes.  Disk encapsulation requires a reboot for the changes
  to take effect.

More than one disk or pattern may be entered at the prompt.  Here are
  some disk selection examples:

  all:          all disks
c3 c4t2:      all disks on both controller 3 and controller 4, target 2
c3t4d2:       a single disk (in the c#t#d# naming scheme)
xyz_0 :       a single disk (in the enclosure based naming scheme)
xyz_ :        all disks on the enclosure whose name is xyz

Select disk devices to encapsulate:
[<pattern-list>,all,list,q,?] all
Here are the disks selected.  Output format: [Device_Name]

  c1t0d0 c1t1d0

Continue operation? [y,n,q,?] (default: y) y
You can choose to add the disks to an existing disk group or to
a new disk group.  To create a new disk group, select a disk group
name that does not yet exist.

Which disk group [<group>,list,q,?] (default: rootdg) rootdg
There is no active disk group named rootdg.

Create a new group named rootdg? [y,n,q,?] (default: y) y

Use default disk names for these disks? [y,n,q,?] (default: y) y
A new disk group will be created named rootdg and the selected
disks will be encapsulated and added to this disk group with
  default disk names.

  c1t0d0 c1t1d0

Continue with operation? [y,n,q,?] (default: y) y
The following disks have been selected for encapsulation.
  Output format: [Device_Name]

  c1t1d0 c1t0d0

Continue with encapsulation? [y,n,q,?] (default: y) y

Do you want to use the default layout for all disks?
[y,n,q,?] (default: y) y
A new disk group rootdg will be created and the disk device c1t1d0 will
be encapsulated and added to the disk group with the disk name rootdg01.
The c1t1d0 disk has been configured for encapsulation.
A new disk group rootdg will be created and the disk device c1t0d0 will
be encapsulated and added to the disk group with the disk name rootdg02.
  VxVM  ERROR V-5-2-338
The encapsulation operation failed with the following error:
    VxVM vxencap ERROR V-5-2-4159
Disk c1t0d0 is a root disk;
        Disk cannot be encapsulated.

Hit RETURN to continue.
  VxVM  INFO V-5-2-340
The first stage of encapsulation has been partially successful.  If
you would like to continue with the encapsulation you should reboot
the system at the earliest possible opportunity, otherwise you should
  retry the encapsulation.
The encapsulation will require two or three reboots which will happen
automatically after the next reboot.  To reboot execute the command:

shutdown -g0 -y -i6

This will update the /etc/vfstab file so that volume devices are
used to mount the file systems on this disk device.  You will need
to update any other references such as backup scripts, databases,
  or manually created swap devices.

Encapsulate other disks? [y,n,q,?] (default: n)

我新加了块硬盘,这个新硬盘能封装,为什么系统盘不能封装,一封装就是错误....请大家来看看啊.我这个veritas volume manager是从 veritas网站上下载的,我没有序列号,这个封装跟这个有关系吗?
