Sun StorEdge 3000 Family Software
The sccli software package (SUNWsccli) and the ssconsole software packages (SUNWscsa, SUNWscsd, SUNWscsu, and SUNWscui) may be downloaded, free of charge, by customers, from the Sun Download Center.
Instructions for download:
Go to
www.sun.com/storage/workgroup/3000/3300/3310scsi
.
Click on "Sun StorEdge 3000 Family Software Download" under the "Other" heading.
Either register yourself, or if you're already registered, login with your user name and password.
Using SHIFT-LeftMouse, download the appropriate file, which includes all five packages.

How to recover the lost password on SE3310 Array

Description
We have an option to set a password to access the SE3310/3510/3511 arrays ( hence referred to as SE3x1x array).  When a password has been set on a SE3x1x array, and we forget the password or if the password becomes unknown,  there are one way of clearing the password.  This document will show the way.

Solution
Using the sccli command (preferred method)
In the event that an SE3x1x controller is password protected, and someone has forgotten the password, there is no way to gain privileged access to the controller in out-of-band mode (ie. telnet or tip). This is the proper functionality of password protecting the array.
However, there is a method of changing the password on the controller(s) without having to perform a reset of the nvram, which can cause unnecessary downtime for the storage. This procedure involves the utilization of the sccli command given that the following criteria be met.
If this is a new install of an SE3310,  SE3510, or SE3510, then invariably criteria #1 below needs to be performed on the host, and criteria #2 should already be met from the factory default settings. If the system has been operational and host is able to see the LUNs, then you only need to check for criteria #1.
The sccli packages must be installed on the Solaris host. Check install guide for more on the sccli packages and how to install.
At least one LUN on the array must be host-mapped to at least one host channel.
If the storage device in question is a SE3310, then in addition to having the sccli packages installed on the solaris host, Sun Ultra-SCSI-3 packages (qus drivers) must also be installed in order to see the LUN devices from the host. Note: See installation documentation enclosed with the SE3310 for downloading these packages from
www.sun.com
, or check your latest EIS (Enterprise Installation Standards) CD.
If this an out-of-the-box fresh install after installing the sccli packages, you will need to connect at least one fiber (for 3510 or 3511) or scsi cable (for 3310) from the host HBA to the first channel (Channel #0) of either RAID controller of the storage. Next you will need to perform a reconfiguration boot on the host to be able to access the default factory-configured LUNs that come pre-installed on the storage.
If the above conditions are met, then the command is very simple.
As root, run the sccli command to get the prompt:
# sccli   (This will invoke /usr/sbin/sccli )
sccli> set password
to change the password or optionally, to remove the password altogether, then do:
sccli> set password “”
sccli> q
Note:  There is no prompting the root user for the old password.  It is assumed that the solaris host is secure for root, thereby allowing for this functionality to set the new password for the controller in-band, via sccli.
Now you may telnet or tip into the controller and provide your new password to gain access to the controller(s). Be sure you don't use in-band sccli at the same time as using the out-of-band tip or telnet, as it can cause unexpected behavior.
This command to reset the password of the SE3x1x array will work the same on single RAID or dual RAID controller SE3x1x arrays.
