Which of the following is an XML reference file?
a) .jar file
b) .class file
c) .app bundle
d) .jnlp file
The correct answer is d.
A '.jnlp' file is an XML file that references jar files (often remote) to run a particular application.
'Jar' stands for Java Archive. A '.jar' file contains a file format based on the popular ZIP file format and is used for aggregating many files into one. Although Jar can be used as a general archiving tool, the primary motivation for its development was so that Java applets and their requisite components (.class files, images and sounds) can be downloaded to a browser in a single HTTP transaction, rather than opening a new connection for each piece.
A '.class' file is the result of the the Java programming language compiler (javac) translating your source file code into instructions that the Java virtual machine can understand. The instructions contained within a .class file are known as bytecodes.
An '.app' bundle is a directory that contains descriptors, resources, dependencies and such for (typically) a self contained application environment.
