Configuring a printer
You can configure a printer for UnixWare 7 and use the UnixWare 7 lp command from Linux mode, or you can configure and use Linux Cups for printing.
Configuring from UnixWare 7 and using lp
Configure local or network printers from UNIX mode (see
``Managing the print service''
) and use the UnixWare 7 lp command, with appropriate options, to print from Linux mode. To print using the UnixWare 7 lp command from the command line while in Linux mode type:    /unixware/usr/bin/lp -d printer file
where printer is the name of your destination printer, and file is the name of the file you want to print. Depending upon how your printers are set up, you might need to add a -T postscript option for PostScript printing. See

Configuring and using Linux Cups
Cups (spelled with a ``C'' or a ``K'') is a graphical print interface available on most Linux systems.

As the root user in Linux mode, start the cups server:    /linux/etc/rc.d/init.d/cups start
There are also several ways to start the cups server from KDE2. You can select the KDE Control Center --> System --> Deamons --> cups and click OK, or from the KDE2 Start Application menu, select the Cups Administration tool.
After the daemon is started, any user can configure configure their printer or print a file.

Configure the printer you want to use by launching the graphical Kups interface.    /linux/opt/kde2/bin/kups
You can add a printer, or use one of the detected printers.

Finally, to print a file, launch the graphical print interface and select the printer and options you want.    /linux/opt/kde2/bin/qtcups
