Review chapter 16:Analysis and Design, which is one of the additional chapters of the book : Thinking in Java in its new 3th version.
Not very good I seen. Only twelve pages is covered with this complex and deep suject.
I'am not saying the question like that How do you feel why cover this suject with so few pages is not enough, but the content in it is not good at all.
Let us see the summary of this chapter:
First, Author describe how important the Mothed it is and how to begin you coding with one mention in your mind :"How to solve the problem with the way of OOP thinking?"
Second, It show six phases covering the process of your design.
1.Make a plan: find the high concept of your project
2.What are we making: Use Case and evaluate the time required for the project
3.How will we build it: How to extract the Object from your analysie of the project, how to develop Object. Always keep it simple and clean.
4.Build the core 5.Iterate 6.Evolution.
Third, Introduce the concept of XP(Extreme Programming), two points important: write test first and pair programming
Forth, how to turn to develop with JAVA(the OOP language).
How jerry-built it is to this topic?
