Performance Engineer Job Description
SuccessFactors is the established global leader in providing on-demand,
Web-based, integrated talent management solutions that help
organizations align, develop, motivate and retain their employees.

The J2EE / Database Performance Engineer will help to execute a strategy
related to performance tuning and enhancment for mission-critical J2EE
applications.

Duties and Responsibilities:                  

* Performance & load testing and tuning, trouble
shooting, analyzing bottleneck and root cause, suggesting possible ways
of fix.

* Tune slow SQL queries by checking the technical
design, analyzing SQL execution plan, and solving the problems with
database tuning techniques.

* Analyzing Java/J2EE code and design, suggest
possible ways of fix performance issues, and working on fixes.

* Assist in the implementation of a performance and
scalability testing methodology and recommendation and development of
test tools used to administer performance and scalability tests.

* Isolate application and architectural issues and
recommend and develop resolutions.

*  Provide internal and external customer
documentation summarizing results of performance and scalability tests.

*  Conduct research projects into applicable
technologies for enhancement of application performance.

*  Recommend application coding practices as
required.               

Qualifications:

BS degree in computer science or related field

*  3+ years software development related experience .
*  3+ years experience with relational databases, data modeling and
design, and SQL tuning, preferably Oracle.  
*  1+ years experience with Java or J2EE.
*  1 year experience on Performance Profiling/Tuning/Testing.
*  Must have solid knowledge of algorithms and data structures and
be able to assess trade offs between memory vs. CPU vs. I/O vs. database
load etc.
*  Must be highly goal oriented and flexible and be able to adjust
to changing priorities under stressful conditions and tight schedules.
*  Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
*  Must be a solution thinker and have a positive "can-do"
attitude.

Desired, but not required:

*  Experience writing technical documentation.
*  Experience with human capital applications.
*  Experience with SaaS architectures.
