Duties and Responsibilities:
-Works on UNIX-based operating systems and has high skill level with most UNIX or Linux commands and utilities.
-Familiar with most basic system administration tools and processes, including machine installation, system monitoring, user management, process management and storage management.
-Handles system problems and exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to take appropriate actions.
-Works with team on system change orders, such as planning, installing, monitoring, testing and servicing. Assists in proposing and implementing system enhancements to improve system performance and reliability.
-Ability to communicate and work with remote IT teams, and document procedures and solutions in a professional manner.
-Ability to work extended hours, and address emergency situations at any time of the day or night.
-Responsible for customer issues. Share on-call duties with team, provide proper solutions or escalation paths.
-Work under the general supervision of IT manager, deliver results and achieve objectives.
Requirements
-BS in Computer Science with 2-4 years of relevant experience or MS with 0-2 years of relevant experience.
-Proficient with all aspects of system and network administration on Linux, Solaris or other UNIX-like operating systems. Has basic knowledge or experience on scripting and programming for system administrative purpose.
-Understanding of network infrastructure services, such as NIS, LDAP, NFS and etc, and networked/distributed computing environment, such as LSF or GRD, is preferred.
-Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with fluent oral and written English. Capable of writing specifications, documenting system changes and presenting to internal audience.
-Ability to schedule, prioritize and accomplish Business Units related tasks and communicates actions and results as needed.
-Good teamworker, with enthusiastic, supportive, responsible and serious attitude to work. Has ability to work with remote teams.
-Previous experience in customer support, computer operation, data center administration and other related area. |
