◆Responsibilities:

-Work with the Linux build system
-Integrate Open Source Linux user space packages
-Design, integrate and implement enhancements to our Linux platform
-Track, evaluate and integrate development from the open source community
-Share, track, and evangelize Linux and Open Source knowledge internally and externally

◆Requirements:

-4+ years of development experience
-2+ years of Linux in a development environment, especially embedded systems
-Have successfully worked on the delivery and deployment of Linux based products to the market

-Strong practical C experience in a cross-compilation environment
-Hands on knowledge of GNU development toolchain, especially gcc for cross-compilation and linking and gdb for debugging
-Bash shell scripting ability
-Debugging ability
-Perl knowledge a plus

-Knowledge and understanding of the following concepts: Linux user space, kernel loadable modules, cross-compiling, static and dynamic linking, guarding against host dependencies during cross-compilation

-Experience with the RPM package manager
-Preferably but not necessarily understand RPM spec files syntax and rpm-macros insternals

-Knowledge and understanding of common Open Source software development practices

◆Detailed Technical Requirements:

-Ability to read and understand and modify Makefiles
-Ability to debug failing compilation and linking build system output

-Understanding and distinguishing and being able to modify build time and runtime package configuration options
-Experience with target file system creation and maintenance, Linux user space application maintenance is required.

-Familiarity with automake and autoconf
-Familiarity with compilation cache
-Familiarity with multilib compilation

-Experience with Fedora and Red Hat is desired
-Experience with Debian, Ubuntu, SUSE a plus

-Experience with source control best practices
-Experience with git a plus

-Knowledge and understanding of common Open Source software licenses

-Experience with RT Linux, Linux security models, carrier-grade Linux or mobile-platform Linux a plus

◆Applicant’s Profile:

-Strong familiarity with working with the Open Source Community

-Team worker, being able to work in a group, share tasks, complete tasks, and work on more than two tasks in parallel
-Fast learner, adaptable in new computational environments, able to take over tasks

-Strong problem analysis skills
-Proven ability to work across many technology areas, act proactively and own a problem

-Good organizational and communication skills especially in the English language
-Flexibility in working with colleagues across different timezones minimizing inquiry response time lag
-BSCS or equivalent
