Job Description
General Summary
Provides basic implementation support on EMC products involving software, at the customer site, including pre-site inspection, initial installation, troubleshooting, implementation, basic customization, basic integration and outline orientation for the customer. Assists Customer Service in standard product implementation services. Works closely with EMC Sales, Customer Service, Project Manager and other TS personnel, Corporate Technical Support and the customer to ensure a smooth implementation and transition from start-up to integration/production mode.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Represents EMC in a professional manner to customers, EMC partners and other EMC personnel at all times. May train customer personnel when authorized by TS management on less complex EMC solutions
Performs according to established safety standards. Reports unsafe situations and recommends improvements. Prepares, maintains and submits activity/progress reports and time recording/management reports in accordance with published procedures. Keeps Project Managers informed of activities, alerting of any issues promptly. Provides updates to EMC case tracking system and or other technical applications for Software implementation and Problem Reporting/Resolution. Provides details for end-of-project reports and in some instances completes the reports on less complex projects.
Provides knowledge transfer throughout and at the completion of assigned projects
Supports and reports to engagement Project Manager while assigned to active customer engagements. Ensures that all project communication with the customer goes through the engagement Project Manager.
Seeks advice or assistance from TS management, TS technical personnel, and/or CS Technical Support as required during difficult customer situations. Works in conjunction with EMC CS and TS colleagues to ensure effective resolution of technical issues encountered during implementations.
Installs EMC software products in a Mainframe and/or Open Systems hardware environment at the direction of the EMC Project Manager, Solutions Architect or Program Delivery Team Lead. Performs moderately complex and/or extended-stay software implementations. Assists in more complex software implementations working in a more closely supervised environment. Successfully manages relations with Customers utilizing negotiation and influencing skills to acquire the internal and external resources necessary for optimal results. May be required to support Program Managers, Project Managers and Solutions Architects in developing Scopes of Work and Project Plans. May also occasionally support other activities as needed.
Maintains awareness of existing or potential customer software and machine situations. Proactively alerts customer and manager of potential problems based upon strong working knowledge of software and hardware compatibility within the customer's environment. Actively works to educate others in the region and nationally on potential problems and resolutions.
