Job Title: Software Engineer – Unix/Linux Kernel
Responsibilities
·Develop, maintain and enhance existing VERITAS Unix Volume Manager product
·Participate in problem solving, developing code fixes, and providing timely resolution to customer reported problems in various areas of the VERITAS Volume Manager product
·Interface closely with global technical support, core engineering development teams, and QA teams with the primary intent of making the product more supportable and deliver high quality solutions
Qualifications
·BS/MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related degree
·At least 2 years of experience in working in the Unix/Linux kernel and system software domain
· Very good understanding of operating system internals and device drivers is a must
· Proficiency in Unix/Linux shell and C Programming is a must
· Proficiency in application and kernel level debugging is desired
· Strong problem solving, troubleshooting and analytical skills are required
· Prior experience in STORAGE Domain(RAID, Fiber Channel, Volume Management) is preferable
· Knowledge of multiple Unix/Linux platforms - Solaris, AIX, Linux, HP-UX would be a plus
·Excellent oral and written communication skills are required
·Candidate must be capable of solving complex problems, be self-directed and be able to work with minimal supervision in a team environment emphasizing team work
Job Title: Senior Software Engineer – Unix/Linux Kernel
Responsibilities

·Participate in problem solving, developing code fixes, and providing timely resolution to customer reported problems in various areas of the VERITAS Volume Manager product
·Interface closely with global technical support, core engineering development teams, and QA teams with the primary intent of making the product more supportable and deliver high quality solutions
·Represent engineering during critical customer challenges where required conference calls, onsite visit etc
Qualifications
·BS/MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related degree
·At least 4 years of experience in working in the Unix/Linux kernel and system software domain
·Excellent understanding of operating system internals and device drivers is required
·Proficiency in Unix/Linux shell and C Programming is a must
·Experience in debugging complex problems with integrated Unix software systems is required
·Proven ability to read, analyze and understand large amounts of existing code with limited documentation
·Strong problem solving, troubleshooting and analytical skills are required
·Prior experience in STORAGE Domain(RAID, Fiber Channel, Volume Management) is preferable
·Knowledge of multiple Unix platforms - Solaris, AIX, Linux, HP-UX would be a plus
·Excellent oral and written communication skills are required
·Must be able to handle multiple tasks at a time and with little direct supervision
·Candidate is expected to provide technical help to others in the team
