Software Framework Designer

Description
Contribute on a common SW framework development for Company Metro product portfolio
To be responsible in common sub-systems development, that fit into different target products using different HW
Support of projects utilizing certain sub-systems
Report to the head of Framework SW
Qualifications
MS degree with at least five years working experience in Development area
Solid C language capability & experience is a must
Excellent understanding of Communication systems, and technologies
Strong experience from SW System design on embedded communication systems
Key contributor to a datacom SW platform development is a strong plus
Expertise in Linux Kernerl development (process mgmt, equipment mgmt. etc) is a strong plus
Solid knowledge in L2 protocols (802.1ag, 802.1ad, etc.) is a plus
Experience in MDD (Model-driven development) is a plus
Good communication and presentation skills
Good in both oral and written English

Description
Responsibilities
- To carry out the assigned tasks and report progress to the System Design Manager and Project Manager.
- To lead technical teams during quick or feasibility study periods of a project and produce Implementation Proposals, Statement of Compliance to requirements and input to sourcing for pricing analysis and produce Implementation Proposals, Statement of Compliance to requirements and input to sourcing for pricing analysis
- To manage the necessary technical communication with peer organizations to fulfill the requirements for the projects
- To secure quality of the project developed at the DUIB Design Center by chairing the Change Control Boards (CCB) for designated products
- Comply with and follow the directives, instructions and procedures implemented in the R&D Center.
- To support the System Design Manager that Ways of Working & processes are kept up to date for an efficient R&D operation
Main tasks
- Come with inputs to overall system product design based on requirements raised by Product Management.
- Take lead in SW architectural design tasks as a part of larger product design projects
- Analyze new technologies and existing systems to come up with proposals for either performance or cost improvements.
- Make sure local projects are aligned with global Company technology and product roadmaps
- Propose new product ideas to improve the existing port folio
- Mentor junior team members and drive competence areas assigned
- Participate in local Chinese Standardization when applicable
Qualifications
- University degree in CS, EE, Telecom or equivalent
- Excellent knowledge of Communication systems and their design
- Minimum 5 years experience in Telecom networking areas; e.g. Carrier Ethernet, Broadband Access or IP Routing with proven industry experience.
- At least one major contribution in a HW or SW project preferable within communication systems in an international company or major Chinese company. (i.e. Chassis based system with High speed backplanes and redundant line cards)
- Detailed architectural knowledge of telecom systems
- Desired experience on FPGA's, purpose built ASIC's (i.e. Ethernet Switching ASIC, xDSL chipsets) and communication/network processor
- Experience on Real Time Linux OS based SW architectures
- Understanding of the Telecom market and its players
- Good communication skills and social ability.
- Fluent in English speaking and writing.

Description
- Design and develop software modules, including documents.
- Design and review related features.
- Perform unit test and integration on software.
- Integrate software with third part software modules.
- Maintain software modules and support deployment from R&D point of view.
Qualifications
- BE/ME in CE/CS or similar field.
- Strong C programming skills.
- A strong background in system-level programming, multi-threading, IPC, and networking.
- Strong problem solving and software development/troubleshooting skill.
- Hands on experience on switch/router embedded system software development.
- Hands on experience with IP routing (any routing protocols like OSPF, ISIS, BGP).
- Strong RTOS embedded experience (VxWorks, PSOS, Linux OS), Linux is the mandatory knowledge
- Experience in design and development of networking software features at platform dependent layer, dealing with specialized ASICs, network processors for high-performance packet forwarding systems, developing drivers and other platform dependent code
- Must be a self-starter, team player, be able to work cohesively within the team and across geographically spread teams to accomplish results |
