Cause
The issue is caused by the Host Storage metrics collected by the agent and was investigated by development via the following bugs:
Bug 8447411 AFTER AGENT INSTALL MESSAGE IS WRITTEN TO OS LOG: INVALID IOCTL OPCODE = 0X403
Bug 8477122 AFTER UPGRADE TO AGENT 10.2.0.5 , NMHS GET_SOLARIS_DISKS PANICKED THE SERVER
Bug 8447411 was closed as duplicate bug with base bug Bug 8477122 . A fix was released on Metalink for Bug 8477122 .
Solution
Download and apply the following patch according to patch README:
Patch 8477122 AFTER UPGRADE TO AGENT 10.2.0.5 , NMHS GET_SOLARIS_DISKS PANICKED THE SERVER
Note: There is a workaround available in order to avoid server panics on Sun SPARC Solaris 5.10 if Patch 8477122 is not applied against agent home:
Contact the OS Administrator to request the application of OS patch : 137111-06 (or a later version of this patch)
OS Solaris 5.10 Patch 137111-06 or newer will avoid system panic, but the ioctl warnings will still be visible in the OS logs. These messages are harmless and will be fixed only by patch for bug 8477122. |
