Mainframe Computing - Development Tools Support

Position Description DT Support is responsible for level 2 and 3 support for a variety of development tools, change management tools, middleware, and testing environments, in both mainframe and distributed environments. A technical programmer hotline and help desk is provided to a large programmer base for supported products and is manned according to a support rotation. Weekend work includes operational requests which impact production, infrastructure turnovers and systems verification.
The job function has a heavy focus on providing technical assistance to programmers and troubleshooting infrastructure problems in supported products so the applicant should have good communication skills and enjoy helping and training other people
Skills Required
• Development experience using Natural, Adabas, MVS, JCL, TSO, CICS, DB2, Sybase, MQ, Shadow Direct
• Expert knowledge of Adabas/Natural programming and internals (system files, user exits, DBA facilities)
• Experience with Adabas / Natural troubleshooting
• Experience with Natural DB2 static & dynamic mode and knowledge of the DB2 catalog structure (plans, packages, etc)
• Experience with accessing Adabas from distributed platforms using Shadow Direct SQL, and CICS ACI
• Experience with accessing distributed platforms from the mainframe via EntireX / SOA
• Distributed development experience is recommended with skills including Java, PERL, SQL (Sybase & DB2) and HTML
• Experience with DBA facilities for maintaining Adabas file structures and Natural Security.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills including ability to train others and maintain user facing systems documentation
• Support of mainframe programmers via hotline and support tickets
• Weekend and On Call rotation
• Knowledge of Morgan Stanley infrastructure including File Translation and Systest is recommended

Position Description
Responsibilities include the day to day operations of a large scale ADABAS installation, file maintenance, reorders etc. The DBA Operations team provides level 2 and 3 problem analysis and escalation. DBA operations is responsible for performance and tuning of the ADABAS environment on an ongoing basis. The operations team also assists the Engineering team with software installation, configuration, customization, maintenance, performance tuning and vendor escalation for ADABAS and related products as needed. Extensive experience in the ADABAS product suite along with exceptional problem solving and analytical skills is a requirement.
Skills Required
• Exceptionally strong ADABAS experience (V7.4.4 and above) - Internals/Fundamentals/Installation and Operations
• Large ADABAS installation operations experience with multiple databases and Expanded file manipulation experience

Position Description
DB2 Operations provides L1 and L2 support services for DB2 on z/OS including processing developers’ requests for database maintenance and migrations, some application performance troubleshooting and scheduled database maintenance. Provide hotline coverage and off hour production support, including weekends.
Skills Required
• Experience with DB2, version 8 or higher in a production support role.
• Experience supporting large(multi terabyte) database and mission critical, high throughput applications in a datasharing tiered architecture.
• Working experience with Database utilities and OEM database maintenance utilities suite

Primary Responsibilities:
• Monitor all batch flow processing and insure timely completion of endpoints/milestones.
• Identify delays or bottlenecks using proprietary and vendor tools and resolve or escalate accordingly.
• Provide escalation support for the L1 batch team for all batch abends.
• Track incoming and outgoing transmissions ensuring they meet deadlines, escalating to appropriate vendors and Datacenter management when necessary.
• Monitor real time performance of the computing environment utilizing automated solutions, 3rd party monitoring software and in-house proprietary tools.
• Perform scheduled and unscheduled system shutdown and startup (IPL) utilizing the Hardware Management Console (HMC); perform environmental verifications after IPL is complete.
• Perform and verify system configuration changes as specified during weekend maintenance / shutdown periods.
• Respond to all hardware faults or failures requiring escalation and support from outside vendors. Work with vendors toward resolving these incidents. Report them via problem tracking software.
