本书系统地研究了共享存储系统结构中的关键问题。主要内容包括：建立共享存储系统的执行正确性模型，定义了共享存储系统中执行的概念，并指出决定一个执行结果的关键因素是此执行中冲突访问的执行次序；在顺序一致性的一个典型实现的正确性的基础上，推出了一种乱序执行的方案；建立了一个地址流驱动的模拟模型来评价不同的访存事件次序条件对性能的影响；提出了实现域一致性模型的基于锁的新型Cache一致性协议，就可编程性和性能两方面对软件分布式共享存储系统DSM和消息传递并行环境进行了比较；指出利用软件实现共享存储，并由硬件提供必要的支持，是既能改善系统可编程性，又能有效提高性能的方法。本书可作为研究生教材使用，对相关技术人员也有参考价值。
