Linux has improved much in graphic system. In a Jan 2010 essay, Mike Diehl bings a list of fantastic free games running on Linux, from FPS to real-time strategy. He made them run on his working-level machine - an AMD64  Dual Core 4200+ with 1Gb of RAM and a GeForce FX 5200 video card, And he say, "Most game players have much better hardware, but this is primarily a
work machine. You can use these specs to get an idea of how well a
given game will run on your system."
