安装mysql出错

安装MYSQL的，我用的是tar包。

我用的是rhel5

以下是命令步骤:
•解压mysql5 的安装包:tar –zxvf mysql-5.0.16.tar.gz
•进入解压后的安装包: cd mysql-5.0.16
•配置:
./configure
--prefix=/opt/mysql
--with-extra-charsets=all
--with-unix-socket-path=/opt/mysql/var/mysql.sock
•make
•make install
•复制配置文件到/etc下
cp /opt/mysql/share/mysql/my-medium.cnf /etc/my.cnf
•运行：./opt/mysql/bin/mysql_install_db
这个命令是创建MySQL的授权表.


在执行到•运行：./opt/mysql/bin/mysql_install_db的时候出错

错误信息如下：

[root@localhost bin]# ./mysql_install_db
Installing MySQL system tables...

To start mysqld at boot time you have to copy
support-files/mysql.server to the right place for your system

PLEASE REMEMBER TO SET A PASSWORD FOR THE MySQL root USER !
To do so, start the server, then issue the following commands:
/opt/mysql/bin/mysqladmin -u root password 'new-password'
/opt/mysql/bin/mysqladmin -u root -h localhost.localdomain password 'new-password'

Alternatively you can run:
/opt/mysql/bin/mysql_secure_installation

which will also give you the option of removing the test
databases and anonymous user created by default.  This is
strongly recommended for production servers.

See the manual for more instructions.

You can start the MySQL daemon with:
cd /opt/mysql ; /opt/mysql/bin/mysqld_safe &

You can test the MySQL daemon with mysql-test-run.pl
cd mysql-test ; perl mysql-test-run.pl

Please report any problems with the /opt/mysql/bin/mysqlbug script!

无法执行:

chown -R mysql : mysql /opt/mysql/var

错误提示如下：

chown: “mysql”: 无效的用户


无法启动mysql

错误提示如下：
[root@localhost mysql]# ./mysql.server start
Starting MySQL.Manager of pid-file quit without updating fi[失败]
[root@localhost mysql]#

mysql存在？
mysql:mysql    分号两端没空格试试！

都提示没有mysql这个用户了。。。。

晕死了。。。。再试也没用的。

两边没有空格就这样了:
chmod：无效选项 -- m
请尝试执行“chmod --help”来获取更多信息。

我还是比较喜欢源码包。。。。。

觉得这个比较有挑战。。。。

mysql用户和mysql是make和make install自动创建的吧？
