Recently, I need do some mathmatic simulation in matlab, so I tried to install Matlab 7.04 SP2 on my linux FC4 platform. I wrote this simple tutorial and just want to make some notes for myself or some other people who are interested in.
Basically, you need get your software package at your hand, and find some special files from Internet. I did it as following steps:
1) Create Directory for Matlab installation, call matlab. This folder should be under /usr/local
mkdir matlab
2) Copy license.dat to that folder.
cp license.dat /usr/local/matlab
3) Insert the CD and start Installation. That is quite simple because you just follow the instructions.
4) After installation, go to /matlab/etc folder and copy another important file, license.lic to that folder.
5) set the path for matlab in .bash_profile.
vi /root/.bash.profile
Add this line into that file
PATH=$PATH:$HOME/bin:/usr/localmatlab/bin
6) Reboot machine and go to terminal window, just type in matlab and enjoy it.
