1 Download "grub for dos".
2 Decompress the package, put "boot" directory and "grldr" file to c:\.
3 Open first Linux ISO image file with a tool, eg. winrar, extract "initrd.img"
and "vmLinuz" to c:\boot.
4 Modify "c:\boot.ini", append a line "c:\grldr=Grub for dos".
5 Modify "c:\boot\grub\menu.lst", append a section like this:
title Linux Installation
kernel (hd0,0)/boot/vmlinuz vga=788
initrd (hd0,0)/boot/initrd.img
6 Prepare a partition formatted as fat32 files system, copy your linux ISO images
to this partition.
7 Reboot system, choose "Grub for dos" while the boot menu appears.
8 Choose "Linux Installation" menu while the grub menu appears and start the installation.
9 When installtion guide ask for the media, choose "Hard Drive", if you had put the ISO
images into the directory "D:\" in Windows system, select "hda5",and so on, if you had
put they in a sub directory, such as "d:\linuxiso", input the sub directory name
"linuxiso"at the below input line.
10 If you wanna boot your system with "Grub for dos" instead of grub of lilo, you should
skip the setp of os loader installing When the guide ask you. But, do remember the
partition name of linux file system and make sure that you have already known the full
path name of kernel files.
11 After finished the installation, reboot to Windows, edit "c:\boot\grub\menu.lst", append
a section like:
title Fedora Core 2, Linux Workstation, SMP 2 CPU
kernel (hd0,2)/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.5-1.358smp ro root=LABEL=/ rhgb quiet vga=788
initrd (hd0,2)/boot/initrd-2.6.5-1.358smp.img
12 Reboot to "Grub for dos", and choose "Fedora Core 2, Linux Workstation, SMP 2 CPU".
All these operations complete in windows xp and windows 2003, if you only have a win2k, please
copy "ntdetect.com" and "ntldr" from a xp or 2003 windows system. |
