Problem with the RPM after kernel's rebuilding.

The pre-install system is RH9 with the 2.4.20 kernel. I download the latest kernel 2.6.0 , then succesfuly rebuild and install it. Every thing seems ok. But when I run RPM, it give me this message:

[root@yikun root]# rpm -qa
rpmdb: unable to join the environment
error: db4 error(11) from dbenv->;open: Resource temporarily unavailable
error: cannot open Packages index using db3 - Resource temporarily unavailable (11)
error: cannot open Packages database in /var/lib/rpm
no packages
[root@yikun root]#

But this command can run correctly under the original kernel 2.4.20, when I reboot with the old one.

During the kernel's rebuilding, I had installed the atrpms.

How can I recovery it?

你升内核的时候没有备份原来的启动信息吗？

你安装了什么rpm包

No, I do not backup any boot info.

I had install the apt(advance package tools): atrpms-kickstart-19-1.rh9.at.i386.rpm
and db4: db4-4.1.25-10.i386.rpm.
