Linux下碰到很tricky的问题，关于配置声卡显卡

最近开始学习Linux, 用的是Linux redhat9.0.
刚刚解决了配置DNS的问题。

现在还有两个问题不知道怎么解决，希望得到帮助，
1，
我的显卡是Nvidia Geforce4 MX Intergrated GPU, 而且系统也检查出来了。但是我的分辨率只能达到800×600，
我把它改为1024×768，它就自动改回来。
我在命令窗口打setup-config-xfree86，但是没有反映。
然后用xsetup也没有反映。
最后用Vi修改XFconfig,却找不到这个文件，也不清楚具体怎么改，
能不能detail一下啊。

2，
我的声卡也检测到了，而且声卡测试也有声音，但是就是听CD就没有声音，在网上开播放器听收音也没有声音，但是播放器在动啊。
什么问题呢？

2. 听CD没声音，还是所有的都没声音？我知道有可能是播放器有问题。你试试别的行不行。

估计是音量比较小！
我安装redhat以后听cd声音就很小！在声音控制里把音量调大就行了！

是什么声音都没有啊，
不是声音小，我把音像开到最到，都没有反映啊。

Sorry, it doesn't work.
I have try the redhat-config-xfree86 command, but it doesn't work.

Acutually, i can get into the display setting after i type redhat-config-xfree86, and i also changed the rosolution from 800*600 to 1024*768. However, the second time i went into the display setting, i found that the rosolution stay the same as 800*600. What's up?

As i am working in the English vesion Linux system at this moment, i can only type English. Sorry about that.

Just now, i also try to edit etc/X11/XF86Config file with vi.

1, I login as root.
2, From that file, it seems that there are only two rovolution availalbe for the
   Linux systems, which are 800x600 and 640x480.
3, I insert the 1024x768 rovolution into the file, and save it.
4, After that, i use the redhat-config-xfree86 to set rovolution as 1024x768.
5, Finally, the rovolution always stay as 800x600.

Somebody Help.

I have just solve the Sound Card Problem. The detail is list below.

Q: I am not be able to play MP3 in the XMMS player of redhat9.

A: Try running xmms as root by typing xmms at the console.See if the mp3 will play.
   Also you could just get rid of Redhat's version:
    quote:
    1. rpm -qa | grep xmms - this will give you the stripped version of xmms.
    2. rpm -e <the name obtained from above - xmms...>;
    3. Download full featured version of xmms from www.xmms.org
    4. rpm -iv <the new version just downloaded>;
    5. Enjoy your MP3 collection.

At this point, another problem maybe coming out,

Q: I followed the removal directions 1-5 of the Redhat version and installed the
   new one from XMMS.org. Here's what happens:

   I play an MP3 in XMMS 1.2.8-1 and all it does it zip through the file. It's
   odd; it'll play an entire 3 min. MP3 in just under ten seconds, and no sound
   comes out.

A: After you upgrading to XMMS 2.8.1 on my RedHat 9.0,  under preferences on
   the first tab, somehow the "Output Plugin" was reset to "Disk Writer Plugin".
   It plays a 3 minute song very fast (in about 10 seconds) and in my case did
   not play any output.
   
   The way to solve this problem is to make sure that it is set to a valid output,
   which on mine is OSS driver.

Now, i am enjotying the MP3 songs, hope you can as well.
    

And, the only problem leave is about the video card rosolution.
Any ideas?
