安装gnome后却不能启动x的问题

安装FreeBSD4.10，使用ISO刻录的光盘安装了XFree86和GNOME 2.6。
完成XFree86的测试后，一切正常，到了启动GNOME时，出现了中间的那个可爱的小魔怪，但启动gnome不能完成，只能ctrl＋alt＋backspace取消X server。
可能哪有问题？
执行startx后，到Nautilus后不动了，等了老半天，没反应……按ctrl＋alt＋backspace取消X后，看到了提示：
libgnomevfs-WARNING:Cannot create pipe for GnomeVFSprocess initialization:Too many open file in system.
啥意思？内核配置时给的maxuser不够大？
