mysql为什么会有这么多进程？

我以前mysql安装以后启动，一般进程情况如下
root     16728  0.0  0.0  65948  1308 ?        S    Sep30   0:00 /bin/sh ./bin/mysqld_safe --datadir=/usr/local/mysql/data --pid-file=/usr/local/mysql/data/mysqlServer.pid
mysql    16936  162 63.6 12772092 10458128 ?   Sl   Sep30 123505:26 /usr/local/mysql/bin/mysqld --basedir=/usr/local/mysql --datadir=/usr/local/mysql/data --user=mysql --log-error=/usr/local/mysql/data/mysqlServer.err --pid-file=/usr/local/mysql/data/mysqlServer.pid --socket=/tmp/mysql.sock --port=3306

但是我今天在64位4.7rhel系统上源码安装mysql,配置信息如下
./configure  --prefix=/usr/local/mysql --without-debug --with-charset=utf8 --with-extra-charsets=all --with-client-ldflags=-all-static --with-mysqld-ldflags=-all-static --with-plugins=all

启动以后，发现mysql的进程有很多，情况如下

这个是为什么呢，请各位大侠赐教

--with-client-ldflags=-all-static --with-mysqld-ldflags=-all-static --with-plugins=all
没遇到过，是不是这几个参数引起的

    这几个参数是用来提高数据库的性能的，也有可能，我再做下实验

    今天再次在32位系统上，按照同样的编译配置参数来安装，结果发现只有一个进程，这个跟上面介绍的刚好相反
