python os.putenv() 是这样用吗？

我想通过python设置环境变量，但是putenv以后getenv的时候也没得到值，想问下是不是我用os.putenv的方式不对？

    read(...)
        read(fd, buffersize) -> string
        
        Read a file descriptor.
