AD is with DNS closely in win2000 server
MS combined the DNS and AD together firmly, so you have to upgrade your standalone 2000 server to Domain controller by add DNS service. After you add DNS, the standalone 2000 server will become a domain controller which have AD administration funtions.\r\n\r\nbefore you add DNS, your 2000 server is only a memebr of workgroup, after you add DNS, your 2000 domain controller will change her face in \"neighbour network\", you see, when you double click \"neighbour network\", it will looks different other then before. YOu will find anything are arranged under the Active Directory, anything are to be object in the network.\r\n\r\nFor client like 2000 professional or XP, you need to go log into the domain controlled by that domain controller. After you log your client machine into that domain, you doble click the \"\"neighbour network\", it will looks the same as the you see it in the domain controller. That is, active directory is a integrated and same looking in the unique domain whatever you watch it in server or client. And active directory offer a function called search function, any network object in the domain can be searched by this function including PDC, BDC, printer, member of domain, OU, Printer.........\r\n\r\nwell, enjoy it. |
