About Writer CDs

I bought CD-R which, generally, means only write once. However, when I use windows XP directly drag files in it, then write it. Later, when I use nero to copy more files. I found that it deleted all files there, but write new files in it. What happens there? Anyone knows it?

The news files should be appended to old files instead of overwriting them.

I think so. That was why I put this question on this forum. However, it seems not to occur to any others.
