Recovering from super block errors\r\nIf you receive one of the following errors from the fsck or mount commands,\r\nproblem may be a corrupted (or dirty) superblock.\r\nfsck: Not an AIX3 file system\r\nfsck: Not an AIXV3 file system\r\nfsck: Not an AIX4 file system\r\nfsck: Not an AIXV4 file system\r\nfsck: Not a recognized file system type\r\nmount: invalid argument\r\nThe problem can be resolved by restoring the backup of the superblock\r\nprimary superblock using one of the following commands:\r\ndd count=1 bs=4k skip=31 seek=1 if=/dev/lv00 of=/dev/lv00\r\nThe following command works only for AIX Version 4:\r\nfsck -p /dev/lv00\r\nOnce the restoration process is completed, check the integrity of the\r\nby issuing the fsck command.\r\nfsck /dev/lv00\r\nIn many cases, restoration of the backup of the superblock to the primary\r\nsuperblock will recover the file system. If this does not resolve the\r\nrecreate the file system and restore the data from a backup. |
