IBM Cognos software development in China is looking for talent to own the mission of Worldwide Reporting Competency Center inside the Business Analytics Division of IBM. Reporting is the essential capability of BI and a key element of all business analytic solutions, as the Worldwide Reporting Competency Center, the team in China will be responsible for innovation of the Reporting Capability in BI, along with maintaining existing portfolio, and also will be working closely with other Capability teams distributed around the globe and to be effective we need individuals who are committed to a collaborative approach to software development and open to thinking creatively about the challenges and opportunities of a distributed development team.

The post is for a Software Development Manager with a solid background in managing software development team and projects. The candidate should have a demonstrable understanding of software development, design and optimization techniques/principles with a variety of practical experience.

An analytical mind, creative thinking and an ability to support other members of the team are essential attributes in the successful candidate.

Responsibilities:

- Manage Cognos Report development team, set clear performance expectation, lead by example, develop talents, lead the team to build deeper technical skills, key technical competencies. Grow the team to be expert in the fields of reporting capability and the cross OS platform product development.
- Responsible for quality of product deliveries under budget, develop and execute development plan, design, review & report project progress regularly, collaborate with release and project management teams, manage and identify risks and issues in advance, resolve problems in a timely manner, drive to ensure successful product delivery.
- Keep tracking project process across team, continually improve the overall process to make development work more effectively and efficiently, while impacting to whole worldwide project team.
- Working together with worldwide counterparts, build trust relationship between team and worldwide software development and QA groups.
- Build collaborative and innovative climate in team, lead the team to contribute to IBM technical community.
- Support S&D and Lab-based Service and contribute to sales enablement and customer support.

Mandatory Skills and Experience

- Rich project management experience or leading experience.
- Familiar with software development process, and experience on IBM product development and release cycles is a plus
- Experience of Agile development methodologies and practices such as SCRUM and Test Driven Development are highly desirable.
- Familiar with Cognos BI products is a plus
- Strong, demonstrated leadership skills, managing software engineers, including coaching, motivating, growing and retaining the team, and measuring individual job performance.
- Confidence to make decisions and influence all levels of management. Represent the needs of managed teams to upper management.
- Experience in budgeting, recruiting and staffing software development teams.
- Strong decision making, analytical, problem solving, and conflict resolution, change management and risk taking skills.
- Excellent communication skills, Chinese and English (verbal and written)
- Software engineer experience is highly desirable, familiarity with programming languages such as C++ is also advantageous.

16) Quality Engineering – Cognos BI SVT

Job description
The successful candidate will join our strong QE SVT team oriented on resolving client facing defects, extended outward towards IBM Cognos Express products, as well as the PureAS Cognos BI Cloud infrastructure.

Position Responsibilities:

This position requires strong experience with testing and verification of customer Hotsites through expert problem troubleshooting and customized testing solutions, extended client assistance etc.
The SVT candidate needs have a solid understanding of IBM Cognos Business Intelligence suite of products, core responsibilities being centered around defect management and working with development on customer facing requests.
Main responsibilities also include:
- Execute manual and automated tests for various products and steams (e.g Series 7, Caspian, Colorado RP1 etc.)
- Troubleshoot a variety of test executions and test environments, quickly isolating product issues and logging accurate defects to the appropriate product areas
- Configure and maintain test environments, stage and upgrade test infrastructure, including upgrading new operating systems, directory servers, application servers etc.
- Maintain all SVT environments (manual and automated), seek effective improvements and infrastructure optimization
- Constantly review all Hotsite testing in synch with Release Milestone testing cycles, identifying gaps in the standardized Hotsite test coverage and ensuring test generation completion
- Build and maintain a reusable automated Hotsite portfolio testing coverage, improve test beds, perform various Hotsite coverage refinements, demonstrating proactivity and creativity in every task
- Collaborate with other SVT teams across the globe, in a result/solution oriented manner
- Test various products / components, effectively performing parallel execution, focusing on high efficiency, high productivity and extreme accuracy
- Work on special SVT and other QE assignments as required.
