| Job Description
| VMware's Horizon Desktop group is seeking senior software engineers to lead the implementation of the Linux Desktop architecture.
The ideal candidate has a proven software development background with experience in the successful delivery of high quality software projects. The candidate should have experience with agile software development techniques.
The candidate should be highly technical, detail oriented with a focus on implementation excellence as well as significant design/architecture expertise in large-scale commercial enterprise product development. Experience and knowledge of leading projects in a multinational environment are highly expected.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the architecture and implementation of subsystems of VMware’s Linux Desktop product. Work closely with architecture teams in multi-sites to come up with a high performance, reliable and extendable design of Linux Desktop.
- Discuss, present, document and provide architectural and technical guidance to a team of highly skilled engineers.
- React quickly to new design requirements and respond with fast product delivery
- Porting existing Windows based design and implementation to various Linux Distros
Qualifications and Experience
- 5+ years of progressively broadening software development leadership experience with a strong track record of success in the development, and delivery of complex Linux software in a Networking environment.
- Experience with VMware Horizon or Linux KVM is a big plus
- Experience with Linux driver software design and implementation is a big plus
- Experience with Linux Optimization, Characterization and performance modeling.
- Experience with Test Driven Development or DevOps is a big plus
- Has inherent knowledge of development processes and best practices to manage multiple, complex, and co-dependent software development projects.
- Experience working across multiple teams towards a common goal. Ability to influence others and take responsibility for cross-functional projects.
Education:
A Computer Science undergraduate and/or master’s degree is required.
