Storage Engineer:
Responsibility
• Design and develop complex configurations for storage arrays and SANs which back multi-thousand node production infrastructure environments.
• Work with database administrators and developers to plan capacity usage so that we never run out of space when the next game launch hits to ensure storage performance and reliability the critical for our game service, and continue working on data and storage capability improvement.
• Research and evaluate all these technologies, understanding exactly how they operate, and how they will succeed or fail in our unique environment and build POC.
• Troubleshoot and support all storage related live issues in the professional and efficient manner to improve the game playing experience.
• Provide backup and disaster recovery support on needed including replication deduplication and disk based backup systems with other storage and backup engineers.
Technical Requirement
A strong candidate will have most, if not all of these skills:
• Mastery of storage and SAN concepts. You know why things function, not just how to configure them
• Expertise with EMC Storage arrays (Symmetrix and VNX)
• Experience with HP 3PAR storage arrays
• Mastery of storage area networks including Brocade and Cisco
• Expertise with host based multipathing software (dm-multipath, VxDMP)
• Expertise with volume managers (LVM, VxVM, etc)
• Experience supporting Oracle, MySQL, Couchbase or other databases
• Experience with EMC Data Domain, as well as NetBackup and/or CommVault
• Experience Linux / UNIX system administration, such as raid and file systems
• Able to write software in Python or some other administrative language
• Experience with configuration management (we use Puppet)
