i want  to install freebsd or redhat into my inenovo pc , i want to know that will it be any problems about the harddisk, if i install  it and win2000 together . it's said that the harddisks of these pcs will have some problems in install it!

With FreeBSD, you need one additional partition.  With RedHat, you need at least two.

Space requirement is roughly 4GB for ordinary desktop.  I personally suggest 10GB or more if you want to develop on it.

安装双系统，FreeBSD的只需要在2000下删除一个4G以上的分区，然后用FreeBSD的光盘启动去安装就行了，只需要注意选择分区时候选那个已经删除了的分区就可以了
