Job Summary
This position requires a candidate with broad technical and business professional skills. The scope of this position involves working with requirements of enterprise clients to provide and deploy technical architectures that deliver the highest value-add on NetApp solutions.
A Professional Services Consultant will be expected to position and deliver company marketed solution sets and other custom consulting. They will work with the sales team to present solutions to customers' unique requirements. They will architect, propose and implement designs to meet the customer business and technical needs.
This position requires a dynamic, hard-working and ambitious individual, with good oral and written communication skills and excellent analytical/problem solving abilities. Candidates will also possess strong leadership and interpersonal skills and have experience project managing the design and implementation of storage solutions. Consulting experience with strong customer interaction skills a must.
Essential Functions
Responsibilities will include planning and administering major portions of the implementation and engineering effort including designing/architecting major components, task management, personnel identification, client deliverables and communication with clients and management. This role requires broad exposure to a variety of technologies/concepts in a distributed environment. Scope and write detailed Statements of Work. Perform storage assessments. Engage in sales team activities to scope service deliverables. Project manage engagements. Deliver on consulting tasks (e.g., installation and configuration of 3rd party applications like Symantec). Contribute to the improvement or enhancement of NetApp consulting best practices. Perform migrations and test applications in detail. Configure, implement and test backup/restore designs. HPC experience is a plus.
Requirements
10-15 years of consulting and/or project management experience with 5 to 10 years hands-on, technical experience implementing, installing and supporting servers and data management systems in a distributed computing environment, including in-depth NAS and/or SAN knowledge. Ability to drive the design and implementation of complex storage solutions thus enabling one or more of the following:
• Storage Consolidation
• Archival and Regulatory Compliance
• Database and Application Optimization
• Content Delivery Solution Design
• High Performance Computing Design
• Backup/Recovery and Disaster Recovery
Applicable technical skill sets and experience might include:
• UNIX and/or Windows System Administration skills on NetApp, SUN, HP, IBM, EMC.
• In-depth Windows knowledge: NT, 2003, Active directory, Exchange.
• System monitoring tools: HP OpenView, SUN NetManager.
• Network design and administration skills: Cisco, Brocade, McData.
• Backup/Restore tools: Legato, Symantec, Tivoli.
• Complex SAN architecting and implementation
• Strong knowledge of protocols, including: TCP /IP, NFS, SMTP, SNMP, FTP, HTTP.
• Strong knowledge of RAID, Fiber Channel, SCSI, DLT.
• Database knowledge: Oracle, SQL, Sybase, DB2/UDB, Clearcase.
• Programming languages: C, Perl, Unix Shell, Windows scripting.
• Anti-virus: Trend Micro, McAfee, Symantec.
• MS certifications. Snap manager for exchange expert. MCSE DBA.
• Project Management Skills. SME training, experience or expertise. Exchange 5.5, 2K, 2003 certification.
• Up to 50% travel may be required
• English and Chinese Mandarin written and spoken fluency is required.
