Why America?
Stay in China is good enough in my view.

15 years ago, when I was given the chance to come to America, there was no second thought. US was definitely the better choice. Nowadays, it is purely a personal preference. If you are happy in China, there is no reason you should come here. If you are not happy or if there are personal reasons to make a move, America is not a bad place to work and live either.

exactly. In a couple of months, two of my friends will move back to China since there are some better changes waiting for them. Although they have some so-called professional jobs in Canada, they think they can climb up to a higher position from the career ladder in China. In contrast, they only see glass ceilings here in Canada. But for me, it's a different story. It will be better for me to work in North America rather than in China as I have no strong personal relationships(it's called networks here) in China. I am destined to be a small potato if staying in China.

是啊 15 年前的美国,无论哪方面都比中国强很多了.


现在就不一样了, 生活上的差距很小了, 主要是生存环境的问题了.

我去美国出差也看到在那里工作的工程师的状态，很典型的有两种情况，

1. 早期赴美的工程师，过得很滋润。

我认识的那个，去美国十几年以上了，赶上了IT的鼎盛时代，而且成功兑现了手中的股票期权。 在硅谷地区有两套房子，工作稳定。

2. 近年赴美的，过得一般。

房子已经是很贵了，只好租着房子，开着二手车。为了申请绿卡，不能换工作。因为经济危机，还很担心裁员问题。因为单身，还很难找女朋友。

其实就和北京的北漂一样，早来的北漂大多有车有房了，工作上小有成就，晚来的发现房子很贵，工作职位竞争激烈。

同样感觉技术能力差不多的人，一早一晚差别很大。
